It’s a well-maintained and popular club with a variety of events, including 3-gun matches and defensive pistol courses. It also features a trap and skeet range.
2. Eagle Rock Gun School – This range is located near Idaho Falls and provides a great selection of outdoor shooting options. ERGSR is open to the public and was founded for the purpose of teaching the safe use of firearms for recreational and self protection purposes. The range will be staffed and managed by NRA certified Range Safety Officers and initially will be open Friday and Saturday.

6. Gem State Gun Club (Boise) – Another great option near Boise, Gem State Gun Club is known for its welcoming community and variety of shooting opportunities. From handgun and rifle ranges to sporting clays and trap shooting, it offers something for shooters of all disciplines.

8. Sun Valley Shooting Park – Located in Lewiston, Diamondback is a state-of-the-art shooting range with individual lanes, automated retrieval system and climate controlled. Our range is capable of handling all firearms under 50 caliber and up to 3500 FPS. There are 2 separate bays with 9 lanes total at 25yds long. We have rental guns available in all calibers. Archery targets set up for 20yd shooting and also for the archers is an archery hunting simulator called TechnoHunt.
How to Choose Based on What You Want
• If you’re a beginner — start with Shadow Dawg, Idaho Firearms Classes, or Combat Absolute. They all offer basic pistol safety, handgun fundamentals, and “first gun” courses.
• If you want concealed-carry / permit-type training — Shadow Dawg and Idaho Firearms Classes both offer CCW/“Enhanced CCW” courses that meet standard requirements.
• If you want more advanced / tactical / real-world training — Combat Absolute or Hat Creek Training will likely suit you better (precision rifle, tactical rifle/carbine, natural-terrain shooting, etc.).
• If you want club-style shooting/range time (practice, sight-in, community) — Coeur d’Alene Rifle & Pistol Club — and other local clubs listed via the statewide association — are good choices.
How to Choose Based on What You Want
• Under current law in Idaho, permitless carry applies under certain circumstances.
• For “enhanced” concealed-carry licenses that may have reciprocity in other states, many training programs (like CCW classes) explicitly cater to that requirement.
